Not My will by Francena H Arnold
This is an older book -- and an old favorite that I have read many many times. Once I even read it to my father.
It is the story of a young woman named Eleanor who live near Chicago and was raised by her wealthy Aunt after being orphaned as an infant. She had quite a strong will and did not want to follow the rules her aunt had set out in the will. So she did what she wanted in her life and tried to trick the law into thinking she was following the will.
Through horrible circumstances she loses both her husband and her baby and eventually learns to surrender to God and submit her will to the will of her Father in Heaven. Trying so hard to get her own will did not work out very well at all.
It's a beautiful story of how God brought all the broken pieces of her life back into a more beautiful picture than she had realized it could ever be.
