Tonight I was carrying a basket of laundry up from the basement and tripped and fell. Thank goodness I did not fall DOWN the stairs but I did land hard on my elbow and my hip and jarred myself really bad. I felt disoriented for a minute.
My phone fell and came apart, hanging up on Bryan and making it so I had to restart it. By the time I retrieved all 3 pieces (thankfully they all landed with me right on those two steps) and restarted it, his break was over so he didn't answer. I hated thinking of hin wondering what happened, not knowing until his shift ended.
So I finished climbing the stairs and assessed the damage--three broken fingernails, one below the quick and bleeding, scrape on my right elbow, and pain throughout my body from the jar of the impact.
Sat down with the heating pad, thought about taking a nap until he came home like I often do, but wondered if that was a good idea even though I didn't hit my head and I didn't lose consciousness but I did feel pretty out of it when it happened.
Bryan had been scheduled to work overtime tomorrow from noon till 6 but there was not enough people on that shift so they asked him to come in at 8am. That is very difficult after working until midnight especially for him. So I was wondering what he had decided. When he got off he called me and said someone from 3rd Shift had called off and he had been approved to take his spot. So he was going to work straight through a double shift. That works so much better with his schedule.
It had been two hours by then so I felt it was safe to sleep. I'm sure I will be very sore tomorrow and maybe a few more days but I'm thankful it wasn't worse.
