Today we used the new drum surround at church. It is a clear box with a roof that holds the drum set and drummer. This way the sounds from percussion can be run through the sound system and regulated.
The drummer wears headphones to hear the other musicians and the sound technician can adjust the volume of everything through the system. There is a doorway and two fans to keep air moving and control the temperature inside the box.
Beta testing went very well. The mix seemed the same as ever. The sound technician didn't have any difficulties. Joe is our only drummer right now and he currently has an ear infection, so he will be tweaking next month but he felt it was within better parameters than before the box already.
