I'm finally having a chance to sit down and catch up with the past week or so. My phone is not capable of many of the tasks that I use in blogging, so until I can upgrade to one with more features, I can only do what it will handle and save the rest for times I can sit down with the computer.
I filed the federal and state income taxes long ago, but I always save the city taxes until the due date. Reasons: we always have to pay because most businesses won't take them out of your paycheck, we have had terrible experiences dealing with the department of taxation, and we feel the tax rate is too high, as well as the monies are not used efficiently. Now the papers are filled out and signed, the envelope is addressed and stamped, and the whole has been dropped off at the main post office to ensure a post mark in time.
We finally started doing some reno on our own house! lol Our back porch steps are made of brick and concrete and they have been deteriorating for several years. This is their time to be repaired. We have gone back and forth innumerable times whether to re-pour concrete or just build over it with a wood deck--and we haven't decided even yet!! But we did dismantle the railing and dig out for posts or footers and fill the trailer up with broken pieces.
In the middle of all of this was Easter! Praise God for what He did on the cross! We had a wonderful lent season and Easter service. Then we spent the afternoon with family talking up a storm. Dave did not cook the special recipe ham this year--it is apparently officially passed down to the next generation, and it was as tasty as ever!
It was up in the air for quite some time the details about the Easter ham--which family member or none was making it--so I pulled mine out of the freezer in case it was needed. It wasn't, so Monday, I planned on cooking it up and trying the family recipe myself. Part of the day I spent hanging out at Melissa's house while their chimney was being repaired. I was thinking it might not be done in time to eat that day but would be eaten the next day, but it got done in time for supper. It was really yummy!
Tuesday was a day that things happened to be back to back. I went from tutoring algebra, to running a 4-H meeting for youth, and straight to church to reach a finance class. It's all exactly the kind of thing I love! It was a little harry with the scheduling, but exhilarating for me.
Wednesday was working in the church office and teaching Bible study that night. Thursday I had to go to the board of elections for training for the upcoming primary I will be working. They are trying out e-poll books this year. Then I went to stay with Eva for a few days. I just got back this morning and I'm settling back into my normal routine.
So that's why I haven't posted sooner!
