Rules for holding someone's baby are difficult for the mother and for those who are not.
Everyone seems to love holding babies. When a baby enters the room, flocks of people soon hover around. Soon the mother has granted someone the privilege of holding him.
Someone may want to hold someone's baby but be nervous about asking. They may feel there are others with a closer relationship who should have turns first. They may feel they won't do it the way the mother wants it done or be judged by their methods by her or others around.
Mothers get tired of holding their baby and appreciate a break, but they each have their own particular way of doing it. They may be nervous about who holds their baby. They may worry that if they relinquish control over their baby that he may get passed around to too many others.
It's a delicate operation--tread with caution!
