Book Review: The Light Princess

The Light Princess by George MacDonald

I remember several times in the past reading material written by George MacDonald. He is one of those authors that is pretty well acclaimed, especially among Christian circles; however I have never really been impressed by his writing style. Recently I was reminded of his acclaim so I decided to try reading some of his books again. I don't remember which ones I have read before in the past so I started with one which I found to be one of the first that he had written.

My previous impressions were confirmed. I don't easily follow his premise or his plot, and there are many, many things that are so fanciful they are beyond my mind to enjoy. When I first heard the title  I always thought it referred to light and dark but now I find it actually is a matter of gravity.
That is less appealing to me, and I also do not see at all any correlation to Christianity that I have heard is supposed to be there.

There is nothing any different from all the fairy tales that I have read, so it is enjoyable from that standpoint.
