Who Is God?

I would dearly love to go with my first choice and quote every word of these amazing lyrics and give full credit to the creator(s), but due to my understanding of copyright laws I feel compelled to choose to quote only the song title and artist.
This song paints a picture of God. The lyrics help us to see the God we serve as followers of Jesus Christ. It is easy in this age to assimilate misinformation from the barrage of sects, cults, atheism, Islam, etc. into our picture of God. Maybe this is part of the reason we sometimes have difficulty trusting Him–because our understanding of Who He is continues to be distorted.
He is ancient, present, ageless, changeless. He is faithful, loving, good, compassionate. He is the creator, outside of the universe.
Often when I hear this song, I am so ashamed of myself for doubting Him. If I just allow my eyes to be open, I will see Him and remember His glory and goodness. Usually, however, I only open my eyes to my circumstances, my questions, my struggles. The accounts of Abraham, Moses, David show how faithful God is. The way God strengthens and upholds my niece, my friends, my coworker, in big things and little things show how faithful God is. The testimonies of believers over the centuries show how faithful God is. How much more validation do I need??? I need to take Him for Who He is. At times I do, and I strive to do this more and more, and when I do, it can make a huge difference in my life.
