This is What I'm Reduced To

Tuesday when I came home from work I noticed that the snow on the deck was pretty much melted off and clear. The snow on the steps was pretty much melted off and clear. The driveway was pretty much melted off and clear all the way to the sidewalk. However the sidewalk itself from the driveway to the deck was still very snow-covered.

It is in the shadow of either the house or the garage for most of the day. It is amazing how much the sunshine can melt off snow and ice even on a very cold winter day. Bryan has the rock salt put away inside the garage and I didn't want to mess with digging it out.

So I set my purse and keys down just inside the door and came right back out to scrape up another layer of loose snow off of the part of the sidewalk.  It only took 10 minutes, then I went about my routine of chores and supper and lesson plans.

Soon it was time for me to head to my meeting and I walked right out the door with everything that I usually keep right on the table so I don't forget what I need to bring with me, locked up, started the car, set my things down on the seat next to me--and realized I did not have my purse.

This is because I set it down just inside the door so that I could go right back out to shovel without either taking my shoes off and putting them back on again or tracking snow even a few steps into the kitchen where sock feet are susceptible to a wetting.

That's all the longer it takes to to forget completely about everything else with the result what that my purse did not get put in its usual spot -- my "remembering spot."

Good thing I somehow noticed that I didn't have it with me right away when I got into the car or I would have been driving without my license or any other of a number of things I might unexpectedly need.

Yes, this is what my memory is reduced to! And I'm told it only gets worse from here.
