Children's Programming

Lately I've been thinking a lot about children's programming. It doesn't seem like there's anything much of quality on television for children anymore. Even though there are more programs and more channels that carry children's programs.

So I was doing a little inventory of what I can remember:

    Before me--ones I've heard of
Romper Room
Captain Kangaroo
Heckle and Jeckle
Mighty Mouse
Shari Lewis
Mr. Magoo

My Time -- ones I  actually watched
at least once as a child
Speed Racer
Barman
Mr. Rogers
The Muppet Show
Ducktales
The Flintstones
The Jetsons
The Electric Company
Sesame Street

       Ones never watched
Smurfs
Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles
Rainbow Brite
Care Bears
Scooby Do
Muppet Babies
Fraggle Rock
Pokemon
Mighty Morphing Power Rangers
Powerpuff Girls
Rugrats
Peewee

      My Daughter's Time  -- ones I
                  watched with her
Reading Rainbow
Bill Nye the Science Guy
PB&J Otter
Garfield
Magic Schoolbus
Where in the World is Carmen
              SanDiego ?
Arthur
Winnie the Pooh

Next Era -- ones I watched with
              children in my care
Blues Clues
The Wiggles
Baby Einstein
Dora the Explorer
Bob the Builder
Teletubbies
Barney
Shining Time Station

       Today
