Crazy day yesterday with heavy thunderstorms and tornados activity.
For me it started right after the baby finally fell asleep around 2, on the glider on the porch. That meant I wasn't going to move until she woke up since it's not a safe place to leave her unattended. I knew going to the bathroom or refilling my water would have to wait.
Then suddenly my phone went off like it does for an Amber Alert and it said there was a tornado warning until 2:45. It was odd because the sky was blue from edge-to-edge. I checked The Weather Channel and the news stations websites and found no warnings and nothing at all on the radar.
Well we went to the basement anyway just to be on the safe side. Then while we were down there, the alerts sounded again and said the tornado warning was extended until 3:30. By this time the other websites were showing the warning. One showed a map of the warning area which was a rectangle from Middlefield south and east and we were in the farthest South East corner of the watch which I'm sure is why we didn't see any indication in the sky that we could see.
So we stayed down there discussing scenarios and trying to keep the baby occupied but there was no place for her to get dowdow. At 3:35 we came back up and the world looked exactly like it did before we went down. LOL
Then we heard people saying how the schools did not dismiss the children until the warning was over and threw the bus schedules behind and many people didn't get their kids home until 5. I watched the news and saw several reports of downed trees and a couple of flattened buildings and torrential rain and hail over towards Middlefield and West Farmington.
When Bryan got home from work he told how there was a huge section of the city downtown that had no electricity. The traffic lights were not working and people were just flying through them as if they didn't exist instead of treating them as a four-way stop sign as they're supposed to do. When Clarence got home from work around 1 - 1:30 he said it was eerie to have that whole section of blocks in the dark. No details really on how trumbull hospital faired.
