I literally gasped when I read it.
I usually read the Tribune and the local news from WKBN online most days. Typical fare of a house fire or car accident or politicians visit to the area, National headlines, local community happenings, and the weather. But reading that General Motors Lordstown was basically closing all together after layoffs from the last 2 years was equivalent to a punch in the gut.
There's been a general attitude of discouragement all around the area ever since. I've been hoping to increase my employment but the chances of that are even more slim now that so many more will be vying for those jobs. It may actually be a respite from our dilemma about selling the house since the market will likely freeze for around 6 months.
It's scary thinking what is ahead for our area and our household and family.
