Birthday Outing

We had such a nice day yesterday. We took a drive. The weather was so nice, I switched from my coat to my jacket and still had to take it off because it was so warm in the car! The landscape was a dichotomy. Dreary and depressing ground and trees, but gorgeous blue sky with tons of puffy white and purple clouds all the way to the horizon. It was very enjoyable.

We stopped at a Walmart outside of our district so Bryan could check the selection of Hot Wheels there. We bought a crib for our new little grandbaby--whoever he or she ends up being! Later, we took it to Joe and Melissa's house and we are still undecided if it will stay there or come and live at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Then we stopped and got takeout from that new Mexican restaurant that we've been  wanting to visit. Well, I have been wanting to visit, LOL. It has cool decor.

Even though it was early for Bryan to be hungry, the smell of that food in the car was driving us both crazy!

The portions were generous and the togo boxes enormous! Check out the comparison with the one from Perkins last night!

We also came upon a railroad crossing just as the gates came down for a train. I haven't gotten to watch one for a long time.  It was perfect because weren't in a hurry and we were first in line and we caught it at the very beginning so of course I counted the cars! It was a busy commercial area with lots of traffic and side streets. I counted 178 cars! There were tons of semi trailers, some double stacked, and it was all pulled by 2 engines and it only took a few minutes for it to pass by. It always amazes me how much power that represents -- to pull that much weight so fast. I can't imagine how people think they should take chances trying to cross before a train.

Last we stopped at a store that Bryan has been wanting to check out for quite a while. It's a new military and outdoor store. He had a great time birthday shopping and checking out everything that they had available. He was able to buy himself some birthday presents of things that he hasn't been able to find since Mickey's Army-Navy went out of business.

After that I went with him to clean the gun club. No one else was going so there was no one else to help him and I didn't want him doing it alone during our birthday celebrating.

Finished the day doing laundry in between binging, me Madam Secretary, and him a couple old Burt Reynolds movies.
