This is the 10 year anniversary of my mother's death. I want to share this song that reminds me of her and some thoughts connecting her life to it.
Untitled Hymn by Chris Rice
Weak and wounded sinner My mom told me
Lost and left to die much about her
O, raise your head, early life, how lost
for love is passing by and hopeless she
and Come to Jesus felt, and how that
Come to Jesus all changed when
Come to Jesus and live! she trusted in Christ.
Now your burden's lifted She couldn't carry a
And carried far away tune very well and I
And precious blood rarely heard her try
has washed away the stain, to sing--except in
so, Sing to Jesus church!
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live! She was a strong,
And like a newborn baby independent, and
Don't be afraid to crawl opinionated woman
And remember when you walk and she kept her
Sometimes we fall, struggles more to
so, Fall on Jesus herself than she
Fall on Jesus probably should
Fall on Jesus and live! have, and likely
learned many
Sometimes the way is lonely lessons the hard
And steep and filled with pain way. She shared
So if your sky is dark about her lack of
and pours the rain, siblings and friends
then, Cry to Jesus and times when she
Cry to Jesus feared even God had
Cry to Jesus and live! left her alone.
O, and when the love spills over She relished her
And music fills the night children even
And when you can't contain though she didn't
your joy inside, do everything
then, Dance for Jesus right by us and
Dance for Jesus had her own
Dance for Jesus and live! personal demons
to fight at the
And with your final heartbeat same time.
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, During her fight with
and laugh on Glory's side, cancer, I saw the
and, Fly to Jesus point where she was
Fly to Jesus ready to go and that's
Fly to Jesus and live! how I envision her--
Fly to Jesus in peace, laughter,
Fly to Jesus and God's glory.
Fly to Jesus and live! That's where she'll be
when I see her next. 💕
