Are We Ready?

HOSANNA by Brooke Fraser of Hillsong United
I would dearly love to go with my first choice and quote every word of these amazing lyrics and give full credit to the creator(s), but due to my understanding of copyright laws I feel compelled to choose to quote only the song title and artist.
Such beautiful word pictures–I love the story that plays in my mind when I hear this song.
If I saw the King of Glory coming, especially if He had fire, I would have a reaction that can be described in many ways, most that come to mind a bit crude. The King James says things like, “my heart failed within me” or “my heart melted like wax.” I’m sure all of us would have a similar reaction. It’s because we all know our hearts and we know what we deserve from the King of Glory although we act like that is never or a long time coming.
And if we suddenly realized time was up, we would know we would begin getting what we deserve. Indeed the whole earth would shake in fearful apprehension.
In the song there is a pause next–which doesn’t appear anywhere else in the song, leading me to believe it is there to give time to reflect on the scenario it has just set up.
The next stanza shows the other side of God, the side we often don’t realize is there. His justice demands fulfillment but His love and mercy provide a way to fulfill it without leaving us in our sin. The blood of Jesus did that. Instead of what we justly deserve, we are washed clean! Of course the people sing! It should be the natural reaction to the incredible blessing we have just been given.
Now comes the lasting result of that blessing—generations rising up. Each generation has a place. Young people, middle-aged, elderly. One cannot adequately fill the place of another. All generations are needed. When each does just that–take their place, the revival can begin! Clean, healed hearts, opened eyes, loving like He loves, sold out to His Kingdom!
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest!
