Books of the Pentateuch

The Book of Genesis is fascinating because everything in it is happening for the very first time ever. Genesis means beginning. Reading it helps understand everything that exists by learning about the first time it is mentioned. It's very easy reading because it's a big long story.

The next book Exodus tells about how the nation of Israel was held in Egypt as slaves and how God miraculously freed them from that and led them away from Egypt back to their native land.

Numbers primarily tells about that Journey from Israel to Canaan.

Leviticus explains the setting up of the theocracy--the establishment of the priesthood, the Tabernacle, and the laws of the land.

Deuteronomy explains how the Israelites conquered the people that were living in Canaan at the time and divided the land among the different tribes of Israel.
