Green Car Back on the Road

Well, of course we started trying to fix the green car with easiest ideas first. We had already seen that the distributor cap was not the issue. Then he tried the fuse for the fuel system. Then he tried  the fuel filter under the driver seat and that didn't fix it.  Then he tried the fuel filter that goes into the gas tank which is cheap but a lot of labor. Still no luck.

That left the fuel pump which was the hardest and most expensive possibility. Melissa found an incredible deal by ordering online using a coupon So we ordered a new fuel pump on Labor Day. Of course it took a week to come in.

In the meantime Brian took an old fuel pump we had had from before and tried to rebuild it. And during this whole time Bryan's dad is touch touch-and-go struggling with his health. Wednesday  night we thought we were going to lose him and we couldnt get Bryan to answer his phone at work. Darlene had me actually drive there and walk into the plant to get his attention so he could come be with the family.

Saturday Bryan was back working on it when his dad started to fail rapidly. We called him and he was under the gas tank covered in gasoline with his tools spread out all over the place. So he threw everything in the garage, locked it up, jumped in the shower, and drove like a maniac. He barely made it to say goodbye to his dad. He walked in, his dad looked at him, and let himself stop breathing.

Of course family took precedence then.

After the funeral was over everyone had to get back to dealing with life. Wednesday night Bryan told me it was finally ready to drive so Thursday morning before work I had to switch everything I needed from the gold car back to the green car and of course I forgot things but that is another story!

Thursday night I told him about the new squeak that it was making -- probably from parts adjusting to the removal and replacement of the tank. But he took it for a test drive Thursday night just to check it. Well, he only got a block when gas suddenly spewed over the roadway and the car died. omg So we had to push it back to the house again. And he was going crazy, so upset that this whole ordeal was still not finished and swearing to push the car off a cliff yada yada. Funny not funny!

Fortunately it ended up being a loose clip on the gas line. A break for us for once! Plus I had driven it all day and it could have happened to me at any moment not practically in our own driveway with Bryan right there to figure it out and fix it. Even though he was covered in gas again poor guy.
