Last time on bathroom renovation:
Had to set the tub into the actual wall because the space for it is too small (by an inch and a half!) for the standard sizes these days and it is far too much to move the plumbing. Tore out the old studs and the old insulation.Split junction box for the overhead light to accommodate a new vanity light as well as a fan/light. Ran new wire to over mirror, attached fan light box to rafter, cut hole of light switch larger to fit 3-switch box and installed it.
Today
Turned the studs for the outside bathroom wall with replacement studs cut to correct length! Put in new thinner insulation. This saved 2" which should leave 1/2" for the drywall and the extra 1 1/2" that the tub needs. It will fit snug. Hopefully that is all it needs!Hooked up switch to mirror vanity light. It works. Installed fan and light assembly to box and wired it to the other 2 switches.
It does not work. We reconfigured it every possible combination and everytime it trips the breaker.
We did a ton more Google research and YouTube videos only to find out that our house is wired on a loop instead of the regular way!! This explains several of the wiring mishaps and failures we have had in several rooms over the years!
Good news is it is possible to remedy the problem but we're done for tonight so even though it's easy, we will have to take up another time.
