Book Review: the Magnolia Story

I no longer do these every month so I can't call it book of the month anymore!

The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines

This is the couple that have a remodeling business in Waco, Texas.  I have watched their show on HGTV and find it one of the more enjoyable ones.  Most of this is because they appear wholesome and genuine/  They don't cut each other down or engage in unrealistic competitions and gimmicks, and they promote family values and godly morals. I love how they support and encourage each other and interact with their kids, clients, and  colleagues.

Apparently, they now have written a book.  I tried to get it from the library months ago, but there was a HUGE waiting list. Recently I was there getting books for my students and thought of it on a whim, and it was available.

I enjoyed it very much.  It was fun to hear more about how they met, how they stumbled into the renovation market, and how their business has grown to the point that a television network sought them out to do a show.  I loved how they took turns telling their story--one and the other jumping into the narrative to tell the individual perspectives on the part of the story being told at the time.  I also liked the photograph section.

It is so refreshing to have uplifting things to watch and read without always having to stay in the historical realm.  Yes, that's right, there doesn't have to be sensationalism, cussing, and drama to entertain.
