The Attributes of God: Things to Realize First
Attributes must be properly applied to the Trinity.
Each attribute is equally true for each Person of the trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit because they are co-equal.
God the Father is perfectly holy; so also is the Son (the Holy One); so also is the Spirit (the Holy Spirit.)
The son is not more loving than the Father, nor is the Father more loving than the Son. Each member of the trinity is equally marked by each attribute.
The attributes are eternally permanent qualities.
No attribute can be gained or lost. God was as loving in the Old Testament as He was in the New Testament, and He is just as wrathful now as He was then. He is the same God with all the same attributes. There is no diminishing or increase moving from OT to NT, or from any point in your life to any other. God will never love you more than He does right now and He will never love you any less than He does right now.
Each attribute is superimposed over the others.
Every other attribute is marked by His holiness, and every other attribute shows His holiness.
For example: the immutability of God
His holiness never changes. His wrath never changes. His omnipotence never changes.
His righteousness never changes.
His holiness is loving. His wrath is loving. His omnipotence is loving. His righteousness is loving.
God cannot be dissected. His parts cannot be separated into pieces.
