A lot has been going on but I don't want to completely lose track of this series.
The books of history in the New Testament are Matthew Mark Luke John and Acts. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are gospels which are first-person accounts of the Life of Christ. There are four different ones written by four different followers but they are of the same story. Just from different perspectives and to different audiences. Acts is the chronology of the founding, spread, and activities of the early church.
Some people separate this into two different genres: gospel and history but the gospels actually are history just a specialized kind of history. And if we keep them together it keeps the pattern going!
