Food from Both Sides

As Thanksgiving is approaching, there have been many conversations about the kind of food that is expected and appreciated for the traditional meal. For example, I love ham, especially the way the Taylor family has traditionally made it. If it is available on Thanksgiving, I would eat smash it. But I want turkey on Thanksgiving. It doesn't feel completely like Thanksgiving without turkey.

I recently had a weird thought about food.

Some foods are delicious! I enjoy eating them purely for pleasure. I would eat them even if I was not hungry in the slightest.

Some foods are physically satisfying. When I am hungry, some foods don't satisfy--I have no desire for them, sometimes I am actually repulsed by them. Some make me feel worse after eating them when I actually am in need of nutrition. There is a great satisfying feeling when I am hungry and I eat something wholesome and nutritious.

Now the double effect: eating something delicious that I would eat purely for pleasure when I am hungry that also is wholesome and nutritious and satisfies me. My brain, mouth, tongue are happy and so is my stomach and the cells throughout my body!

This is what my brain does sometimes!
