I just found out why everything was so strange at the shower.
The day before, Olivia's daughter got bit in the face by one of the dogs. How the situation with the dogs was handled was not approved of by everyone and there are some hard feelings between family members. They were almost going to cancel the shower, but at such a late notice, it would have been more of an ordeal than going through with it. Angela said she was hiding in the kitchen so she wouldn't have to talk much and would be able to keep her composure enough to get through the day.
My heart is breaking. Praying that Maya heals well and still loves dogs, and for the family relationships to be restored completely!
