Saying Goodbye

Several other people I know have lost loved ones this week.  J's grandmother passed away and so did my friend, Norma.

Those two were at the same time so I couldn't go to both.  I had already made arrangements with Karen to ride with me to Norma's so I didn't get to go to support J.  Joe and Melissa did though.

Also, a neighbor of my friend, Doris.  That one is extra terrible because she took her own life and Doris says that it happens every few months in the apartment building where she lives.  It makes sense since the people who have mental, medical, and financial issues are able to find housing there.  It is heartbreaking.  I don't know how she deals with that happening on a regular basis.

It is great to see family and friends rally in support when there is a death in the family.  People only rarely seen or maybe even not know about are there to share the grief and honor the life of the one who has been lost.  Ecclesiastes 7:2 says that it is better to go to a funeral than a feast because it makes us re-focus on the eternal things.
