So Melissa told us that yesterday when she went to the bathroom in the middle night, the toilet seat came loose and she almost fell. Well, can't really do anything about it until morning, so she just went back to bed.
Well, in the morning, Joe goes to use the bathroom and she has forgotten all about her incident until . . . she hears a crash from the bathroom.
Immediately she remembers and starts saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! " and he realized she had let him walk into the same trap and hadn't warned him.
So although it is the Fourth of July, they drive to buy a new toilet seat. It's a pretty easy job to swap them out, or so you'd think! First time Melissa hears Joe mutter, she sees him bending over the toilet with the wrench. Next time, he's crouching down. Then when time has kept passing she peeks in and he's sitting flat on the floor hugging the toilet and pulling with all his strength! !
The bolt is so jacked up that it just won't come off. They try every tool in the junk drawer with no success. A couple of hours have passed while they are doing this and annoyance levels are sky high.
Now the next idea is to go back to the store and buy a whole new toilet! ! A really fun project for beginners and on a holiday.
Suddenly Joe remembers a bargain he got the day before at the Ox Roast: a hack saw. To the rescue! Seat replaced.
