Christmas Lights

I very much enjoyed watching the Christmas lights as I drove through the country tonight.   There are plenty of houses in town decorated for Christmas, but there is something about the way they look set back from the road and without street lights to detract from them.  It seems more--not sure how to describe it--maybe mysterious to me because you can't see the outline of the house or the fence in the dark only where the lights are whereas in town you can usually see both.  Many displays on homes near me seem choppy or unfinished because you can see where the lights stop and the structure keeps going, and you can see the wires holding up the figures.  It's a different look in the country.

Another look is the town square.  There you are actually among the decorations but they seem to have taken that into consideration.  Somehow it doesn't detract from the display to be able to see up close.  It's rather magical too.
