I was driving and saw a deer about to run in front of my car. I hit the breaks pretty hard and missed the deer. However I did hit my face on the steering wheel and the pain in my lip, nose, and cheek made tears come to my eyes.
I thought I'd be tender for a few days and that would be the end of it, but no, two days later, I bit into an apple and a piece of tooth came out! A good portion of each of my front teeth kind of crumbled, leaving me with a sizeable gap.
I made an emergency appointment at the dentist and ended up having surgery to remove the parts of teeth that were left and the roots. I had lost one front tooth years ago already and the dentist asked me if I'd ever had braces and when. I was told there is a kind of glue that was used to adhere braces to your teeth that had been found to cause weakening of the teeth years after the fact. We will probably never know for sure, but it is likely why the other tooth disintegrated also, and why they were discolored and also why the fourth front tooth is showing signs of weakness too.
The dentists were amazing and had a partial plate made for me by Christmas! They didn't fit terribly well because there was still quite a bit of swelling from the surgery, but it made the holidays much more enjoyable for me with all the picture taking going on!
Here's me in the car 5 minutes after my
initial fitting:.
