The one thing that bugs me about this song is that the singer switches who he's talking to without explaining the change.  I know what he's trying to say, but it should be clearer.  There are ways to do this kind of thing and still have a great song.

But I digress . . . I really do like the point of this song and it encourages me and helps me keep my motivation to keep going no matter what happens.  My goal is to be a good and faithful servant and I will never let anything stop me from progressing toward that goal.  My needs are often many, but I know not to blame anything on anyone.  The Bible explains everything so nothing should be a surprise.  The only thing I need to do is keep clinging to Him and no matter how low things may go, just keep lifting Him higher, higher, higher.
